Festivities, I: Moonrabbit Day news!

August 30th marks the completion/announcing of a bunch of stuff, mainly the Great Redesign! I finally finished reworking a lot of the website and I think it looks pretty good! A lot of the tabs have been retired for one reason or another, all the site graphics have been cleaned up, and I spent several painstaking days making sure it all looked good on mobile devices AND tablets. (Which Weebly makes very difficult!) I also redid the Teespring page with their new customization options, but what's more exciting is...

Tons of new designs! Well, kind of new. New as in I remade all the old designs and then made every emoji a sticker a few months ago and didn't announce it here. Yay announcements!! (There's also new Aperture Science jumpsuit inspired hoodies which you should buy)

Festivities, II: Game news!

I got you a present for Moonrabbit Day: one more announcement! Except this one is worse because it probably means you'll have to wait longer to play my game! "This is going to be the best Moonrabbit Day ever!" Is what I would say if I honestly believed that.

I am excited to share that I'm switching game engines from RPGMaker to Godot! This isn't a very big deal progress-wise and does not at all mean I'm starting over from scratch. Almost all of the work I've done in the past year has been drawing assets in Aseprite and writing notes and drafting conversations in Twine. I genuinely think working in a real game engine is going to be easier and faster in the long run. I think I know enough at this point after two years of CS classes to be able to handle a pretty mechanically simple 2D sprite based game and RPGMaker is really starting to feel suffocating. You just can't make interesting nonlinear conversations in it– but Godot has that sweet sweet Twine compatibility. I think the amount of stuff I'm going to need to learn how to do for myself is gonna also be beneficial in the long run and at the very least more gratifying than wrestling gamemaker junior trying to get it to do things it really does not want to do. Also YouTube tutorials. I think I can do this you guys.

Festivities, III: Epic Moonrabbit Day speech???!!!

I dunno. This part is feeling a little forced. This was kind of an unceremonious Moonrabbit Day. It came and went. Which is OK. I don't have a bunch of people to celebrate or share my work with. Honestly the website should have been done like a month ago but I've been super unhappy and demotivated and barely doing anything. This deadline helped a little but I'm still doing like the very minimum when it comes to everything else in my life. Which I am not proud of. Hopefully school helps me build up a little momentum and I can channel that into my work here.

So this Moonrabbit Day's theme is Looking Forward! Can Moonrabbit Days be themed? I think so. I am looking forward to being able to make new friends in person in just a couple days and to being fulfilled by my projects. I am looking forward to writing more. I am looking forward to leaving everything that happened in the past month behind and selling this game for $60 and buying a big boat with my name on it. What are you looking forward to, I guess.
